‘Tigerlily’, Laurie Levine and Josie Field’s collaboration album has been nominated for a South African Music Award (SAMA) 2016 in the category of Best Adult Contemporary Album.
‘Tigerlily’ was released earlier this year. The first of its kind for two female South African singer songwriters, ‘Tigerlily’ is a rich blend of Josie Field’s deep, soulful blues tones with Laurie Levine’s velvet honey country inflections, with a strong focus on their elegant harmonies. After sixteen years experience, nine albums and a dozen SAMA nominations between them, these songwriters have honed their craft on ‘Tigerlily’ with eleven beautifully constructed and catchy songs. Ranging from heartfelt folk melodies to sassy, soulful and blues textured tracks, the album’s organic production allows the songs to breath. The combination of earthy acoustic instruments such as banjo and ukulele with electric instruments such as pedal steel and dobro, solidify the duos new signature sound.
The SAMAS will be taking place on the 4th of June in Durban, KwaZulu Natal.
