04/04/13: New album announcement

Hi everyone!

For the last year or so I have been working on some new songs. I started out slowly, recording them one by one at various stages in my home studio. I finally have a collection of songs that will be ready for release in the second half of the year.

I'm recording the album at Stoep Studio (for the third time) with Dan Roberts and Barry Berk. But this time round I am working with musicians I have never worked with before and I am discovering the beauty of what happens when you bring together musicians with such different styles and backgrounds. We're in search of a meeting place where acoustic instruments can be carried by the rhythm of gospel and soul. A hoedown in a shed filled with trumpets, tambourines, banjos, guitars and the intertwining voices of folk, soul and rock n roll.

This album is both an extension of and a departure from the songs you have heard me play before. Its something familiar and something new. Its a piece of me right here, right now and I can't wait to share it with you.

x

06/02/13: ‘Side by Side’ summer tour with Josie Field

Happy 2013- okay I know I'm a little late but January has been full and overflowing with all sorts of lovely things and I've simply lost track of which month I'm in. February is my unofficial January! So much on the go- lots of music to make, strings to break, new places to visit and beautiful stages to grace!:)

Lots to reveal but one thing at a time. Its going to be an exciting year, and to start it off, I'll be touring South Africa with my friend, SAMA (South African Music Award) nominated folk rock singer-songwriter Josie Field at the end of February and through March. In 2005 we both released our first albums in Johannesburg and have crossed paths ever since. It seems a wonderful inevitability that we are now collaborating to create a special show that brings our music together in a way that no one has heard before. Can't wait to get back on the road and visit some of my favourite places and venues with Josie.

Please check out our dates and come say hi. We are so excited to share this experience with you.

See you there x

28/11/12: Some recent live & album reviews- UK tour

I am a little way in to my UK tour and I have already travelled many kilometers. London is my base at the moment. We travelled South to Bristol to perform at St Bonadventures Club, where some of my favourite artists have played- the likes of Justin Townes Earle, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Thea Gilmore etc  and yesterday we drove through Wales and played in Oswestry's most famous and beautiful venue, The Ironworks. I am on the folk circuit route and loving it!

Some reviews of 'Six Winters' and of the tour have come in. Here is what people are saying:

UNCUT: 8/10: "Remarkable"

OBSERVER: "The heartache of a burnt- out love affair burns bright"

DAILY MIRROR: "Her songwriting insights and vocal delicacy will be warmly welcomed by those who like folk and country with an individual sparkle".

THE BRISTOL POST: "This was Laurie Levine's first show on her first ever UK tour but on the basis of this gig she will soon find herself headlining her own tour".

WWW.NODEPRESSION.COM:  "There is a fragile warmth as the young singer wrings every emotion imaginable out of her song".

WWW.MUSIC-NEWS.COM: She is a singular talent and deserves a wide audience – a little sun-filled…

06/11/12: UK tour dates- November and December

03/10/12: Tour to the UK and release of ‘Six Winters’ in the UK!

Really excited to announce that in a couple of weeks I will be embarking on my first tour to the UK!

The planning for the tour started soon after I signed to UK agent, Bob Patterson who books a lot of Americana and folk artists, much like myself! I will be playing in some really lovely parts of England including Bristol, Brighton, Warwick, London (of course!), Elloughton and Whistable among other places. The tour starts towards the end of November and ends mid December. Most of the dates are up here but there are still one or two to be added.

And it gets even more exciting- hopefully some English folk will get to hear my latest album, 'Six Winters'- I will be releasing the album in the UK on the 5th of November.

Cant wait to explore England, sip her tea and share my music with her beloved people x
